Managing Enterprise Licenses

Enterprise organizations can manage ActiveWords licenses centrally by distributing activation links or running scripts on user machines. These methods allow IT administrators to activate or deactivate licenses without requiring any end-user interaction with the licensing interface.

When preparing a script or activation link, you’ll need the license key and product ID found in the license file.

You can open the license file in any text editor. The relevant fields are:

{"name":"John Doe",
 "email":"johndoe@email.com",
 "key":"1234f1ac9e22d4e376cb7c9ba94feefb",
 "id":999,
 "product":"ActiveWords FREE 60 Day Trial",
 "option":""}
  • key is the license key
  • id is the product ID

These two fields are required for command-based activations.

You can activate a specific license by sending users a formatted activation link.

Syntax:

activewords:license?action=activate&silent=[yes or no]&key=[license key]&item=[product ID]

Example:

activewords:license?action=activate&silent=yes&key=1234f1ac9e22d4e376cb7c9ba94feefb&item=999
  • silent=yes performs activation without prompting the user
  • silent=no displays confirmation dialogs

If the license is stored locally, you can activate by referencing the file path.

Syntax:

activewords:license?action=activate&silent=yes&file=[path to license file]

This is useful for automated deployments or scripted rollouts.

To deactivate a license, use the same structure as activation and change the action to deactivate.

Syntax:

activewords:license?action=deactivate&silent=[yes or no]&key=[license key]&item=[product ID]

This is typically used when reassigning devices, reclaiming seats, or preparing systems for re-imaging.
